Experience the Indian classical dance booth at the Street Fest at Central Park in Burnaby. 

• Try a Mudra” - Visitors learned about the symbolic hand gestures (mudras) used in Indian classical dance and take photos mimicking them, creating a fun, shareable experience on their social media platforms

• Step Into Dance: Mini Workshops – Short, engaging sessions where attendees learned basic dance movements or expressions, guided by trained volunteers.

• Express with Abhinaya Challenge – Participants tried to convey emotions using facial expressions, exploring how storytelling is central to Indian dance.

• Classical Dance Q&A Corner – A volunteer-led space where visitors asked questions and learn fun facts about Indian classical dance traditions.

We're honoured to welcome Santanu Chakraborty — a celebrated Bharatanatyam dancer, Natyacharya, and choreographer — for an inspiring conversation on his journey through dance.

A disciple of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh and Guru V. Krishnamoorthi, Santanu Dada has travelled the world sharing the beauty of Bharatanatyam through performances, lec-dems, and workshops at major festivals across India and abroad.

From Ujjain to Cambodia, Jaipur to Canada — his artistry has graced some of the most prestigious stages and sacred spaces. His recent Jugalbandis and educational work with differently abled children are a testament to his commitment to inclusivity and tradition.
